Since August 2015, a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) has been implemented for individuals traveling to Canada for business, transit, or tourism purposes, with stays of less than six months.
The eTA serves as a novel entry requirement for foreign nationals enjoying visa exempt status who intend to fly to Canada. This authorization is electronically linked to the traveler's passport and maintains its validity for a duration of five years.
To obtain the eTA, individuals from eligible countries or territories are required to submit an online application at least three days prior to their planned date of arrival.
It's important to note that citizens of the United States are exempt from the Canada Electronic Travel Authorization requirement. US citizens can travel to Canada without needing a Canada Visa or an eTA.
